On this day, March 13 1938, the political union between Austria and Germany was achieved through invasion and annexation in Vienna. Anschluss (German for: union), was created by the Fuhrer at the time, Adolf Hitler.

For more so in his plans of a greater German future, he has created it for the purpose of a Greater German Reich and to expand his country. If it wern't for Austria accepting this Union the very future of Germany may have been more difficult to achieve. He made this union to include all the lands and languages lost during the German Empire's existence in World War One. With Austria signing such a treaty, 1.3 of the Austrian soliders had no choice to swear oath to Germany's Fuhrer. They were under his control now.

"Those of the same blood belong in the same Reich!", says on a building with large banners in Vienna. The union created by Hitler, revived the future he once had with Austria, 99% of the population wanted this with Germany. Beginning in 1933, there was an ever growing support for the Nazi's in Austria, they were beyond enthusiastic for the Nazi's.
As many know, after Anschluss, was Germany's next target known as the Sudetenland, or in other words Czechslovakia. Germany was known to use such smart and well thought through tactics to make targetted countries believe that what Germany wanted from them was truly nothing but for the actual good, which we all know was wrong. Germany used these tactics to grow power, and to obtain a larger audience of the ethnic Germans to get support for his choices.
You could imagine many didn't support this idea though. That goes for the United States and Mexico for example. The German agression was rising far faster than many had anticipated and awareness to stop this soon to be dictator became a priority. But sadly, all failed and the Fuhrer of Germany got all that he had dreamt of.
Anschluss was completly against what Germany had agreed to in the Treaty of Versailles and Treaty of Saint Germain. It was illegal! It was forbidden by the treaty to have Austria and Germany together again after what had happened in World War One. But the German's frankly could have cared less. As of today, we could all agree that the Third Reich got the best of people.

A voting ballot for those in support of the annexation of Austria
When Hitler and his troops invaded Austria on the 12th of March, 1938, they were greeted with thousands of people cheering and tossing them flowers. Many Hitler saultes were seen. Hitler marched his way all through Austria. Austria remained part of the Third Reich until the end of the Second World War, when the prelimary government reported it null and void.
